"If you want different results, do not do the same things" -Albert Einstein
After not having luck with lasting relationships using the traditional route, Kendra and Travis took a chance with a modern twist and decided to try the dating app OK Cupid. At first, this was a concept that they found awkward and "for those who couldn't meet people naturally" (lol). Nonetheless, they decided to give it a try and would soon find each other on the app. Not only did they match but it was near 100% compatibility! After a few weeks of sending messages back and forth, they decided to go on their first date on Valentine's Day weekend at Pappadeux Seafood Kitchen. The two bonded over their many commonalities such as their Caribbean background, Black sororities and fraternities, and being “A Better Chance” scholars. Little did they know, they would share many other Valentine's Day weekends and that Pappadeux would continue to be a place for special memories.
Within the first year of their relationship, Travis and Kendra faced some difficult life challenges that brought them closer together. Despite these obstacles, they still experienced many good times and great accomplishments together. Travis even got Kendra to ride her first real rollercoaster! Through the next few years, they focused on their education and advancing into new careers. They both obtained their Master’s Degree from Georgia State University within one year of each other. On May 4th, 2022 (Kendra’s graduation day), after careful planning and assistance from several friends, they made it back to Pappadeaux for a celebration lunch. Only this time, Travis was on one knee and Kendra was fighting tears of happiness leading up to the biggest question of their lives - will you marry me?
This journey brought us here, where we are excited more than ever to celebrate our wedding ceremony and reception with you! We hope to see you there!
